“Mentoring Matters: Theological Explorations of Generational Transition and the Academic Vocation”
Drawing upon the riches of the Christian tradition, the “Mentoring Matters” symposium seeks to foster an interdisciplinary conversation focused on what lessons we can learn from the past concerning healthy mentoring relationships, what goals should define those relationships in the future, and what practices make the cultivation of those relationships possible.
Possible topics for related papers include (but are not limited to) theological explorations of mentoring as they related to the academic vocation. Abstracts of no more than 250 words (using the attached template) should be submitted by 5:00 PM (EDT) on Friday, April 16, 2021, to symposium@iwulumen.org). Decisions will be sent by Friday, May 14, 2021. Full drafts of the papers will then be due by Friday, November 5, 2021. Proposals are no longer being accepted.
The authors of the accepted papers are asked to offer overviews of them at a session during the symposium. The papers will then be published in the summer 2022 theme issue of Christian Higher Education.
